The Museum of contemporary and modern art in Prague, Trade Fair Palace or Veletrzni Palac, is housed in an interesting functionalist building in Prague 7. This past March, IWAP members went on a guided tour of its amazing collection of European art from the 19th to the 21st centuries.
On February 24 a group of us went to the Hotel Jalta to see the nuclear fallout shelter built in the 1950’s under the hotel. Today it has been converted into a Museum of Communism and you can see how the secret police spied on the hotel guests, posters with communist propaganda and photos of what happened to some of the people who tried to escape through the borders. An interesting place to visit!
