Several groups make annual visits to the farm, including the International Women’s Association of Prague (IWAP), whose members, families and friends will be making their fifth sojourn this month.  Expecting more than 120 attendees, IWAP’s social events manager, Marjeta von Massow says, “The Brotánek family has once again invited us to visit their farm, pick our own pumpkins for Halloween, meet people and have lots of fun together. Among our members, this annual trip is considered a special family day in the Czech countryside, a great opportunity for adults and children to relax and gather in beautiful natural surroundings.”

Finding a home away from home

U.S. ambassador's wife Alexandra Graber is on a mission of her own.

The hands-on experience she now misses from direct work with patients is replaced with extensive involvement in charities, primarily through the International Women’s Association of Prague. “I consulted Alexandra many times and valued her experience and opinion about where we were going to distribute charity funds,” said IWAP President Tuulikki Forsstroem.

Get to know people from Africa to Cyprus (in German Cyprus is written with the a Z). In the International Womens' Association women from all over the world get together. The members have the possibility to participate in over 30 Interest Groups. Apart from expats many foreign ladies who have been living in Prague for a long time and many Czechs are members of IWAP. There is no nationality quota. Another field IWAP is involved in is charity. In the year 2007 about 650 000 CZK were raised.
