I have been a member of IWAP since 1997. In my 10 years in Prague, I worked 3 ½ first years in the laboratories of the Motol University Hospital, Department of Genetics (part of the Charles University) and the Academy of Sciences, Experimental Botany. I have been an IWAP member from the very beginning, starting as "an evening group member". I have organized Gallery Gang outings and served as a layout editor of the Bridge magazine for 2 years. I am a native of Finland.		Originally from Olympia, Washington USA, I arrived in Prague 18 months ago. My work life was in Nursing and as a Medical Quality Manager. As an experienced ex-pat, with 5 moves in the last 15 years, I knew to" jump right in" and volunteered to be involved in IWAP immediately.

I grew up in Nurenberg, Germany as the only child of a Dutch-Czech couple. Luckily my mother spoke Czech with me since I was small. I pursued a legal career and after graduating from law school I work as an attorney. Thanks to the ad in the Prague Post I knew about IWAP for some time prior to attending my first Newcomers Lunch in February 2006. The nice atmosphere at the lunch made me join IWAP immediately. The Newcomers Lunch is still one of the IWAP-events I look forward to each month. IWAP provides a wonderful opportunity to make acquaintances with ladies from all over the world and to learn so much from each other as we all come from different nationalities. Strangers to Prague find numerous activities in which to participate and are welcomed by smiles from others who understand the difficulties involved in living outside your native country. Last but not least, being a member of IWAP offers you a really enjoyable way to practice English as well as many other foreign languages.

I come from the east coast of the US near Philadelphia, am the oldest of four children, my father was a doctor and we lived on a farm. I have a Master's in Social Work from Fordham University in NY. Paul was born in Prague, lived in the UK and then came to the US. We have been married for thirty-two years; have seven children between us and nine grandchildren. We came to Czechoslavakia in 1992 for a six months volunteer project, and then Paul ran a venture capital company for seven years and is still on two boards here. We have been in Prague for twelve years, fifteen in all. I have been on the Board in many capacities including Membership, International Liaison, Interest Group Coordinator and Gallery Group. We love living in Prague, enjoy the many music advantages, our friends and travel as much as we can.		I've been a member of IWAP since we arrived here from the UK in September 2004. For the first two years I attended the general meetings, enjoyed the social activities and joined a couple of the interest groups. Then I was asked if I'd be interested in helping the magazine team. I'm now the Layout Editor for The Bridge. I've learned how to use desk top publishing and design programs and how to edit photographs - new skills that I can take with me when we leave this beautiful city - but most of all I have made some wonderful new friends from all parts of the world.

Theodora Papadopoulou is the Magazine Layout Editor for IWAP.		I am registered nurse and moved to Prague from New Zealand, 4 years ago with my husband. I have two adult sons who both now live in Europe. I remember so well the frustrations of day to day life when you are new in Prague and am only too happy to help others make that transition, both by running the Meet-and-Greet lunches and by sharing the pool of local knowledge gleaned through IWAP membership. It's so good to see strangers come along for their first lunch and after only a couple of hours leave with contacts established and new friendships on the way!

Sandra holds a BS in Bussiness Administration with a focus in Marketing from the State University of New Your at New Paltz. Sandra is new to Prague and a new member of IWAP.
