I am from Ohio, USA. I met my partner Tim in 1997 and his job for Caterpillar took us to Madrid, Spain in 1998 where we lived for five years before moving to Geneva, Switzerland. We left Geneva for Prague in 2009. My formal education is in Court and Conference Reporting and Secondary English Education. While living in Europe, I have taught English and yoga, lead an amateur theater group and held board positions for the American International Women's Club of Geneva. I enjoy cooking, entertaining, skiing, hiking, golfing, rollerblading and reading. Being a board member of IWAP allows me to keep busy and work with people, two other things I enjoy. Now back in Prague I have joined IWAP in the spring of 2008, wanted to help and was asked to become Website co-ordinator. Since then I have learned much about management of a non-profit organisation. I have enjoyed the activities and friendship of IWAP and hope to carry on the excellent tradition to the future. Contact: vicepresident@iwa-prague.com	Born in Sweden to Czech parents (my father was a pilot who flew for the 311 Czech squadron in the RAF during WW2 and both parents had to flee from Czechoslovakia - see film Dark Blue World for the historical explanation), spent most of my life in the UK and I came to Prague in 2007 where I was Head of Languages at one of the International schools here. I now run my own language classes and in my spare time, I wanted to see if there was anything I could do for IWAP, where I have met some great people and made wonderful friends. I am from Ireland and I have been in Prague for the past three years. My husband has always travelled extensively with his job but this is my first expat experience and I am enjoying it very much as our children are now living their own lives. I worked part time before moving to Prague and missed that part of my life until I got involved with IWAP and experienced the wonderful team spirit that is this organisation. I come from an accounting background and therefore feel confident to be IWAP Treasurer. I moved to Prague in the autumn of 2010, having spent the last ten years in the Netherlands. I have found IWAP an invaluable organisation to ease the pain of settling into another new country! I had spent several holidays in this wonderful city and when the opportunity arose, I took that giant leap and moved to the Czech Republic in August 2009. Currently I am an English language tutor for both children and adults. I lived in Prague for a year before learning about IWAP. Since I joined, these wonderful ladies continue to inspire and amaze me with their dedication and hard work. I am registered nurse and moved to Prague from New Zealand, 4 years ago with my husband. I have two adult sons who both now live in Europe. I remember so well the frustrations of day to day life when you are new in Prague and am only too happy to help others make that transition, both by running the Meet-and-Greet lunches and by sharing the pool of local knowledge gleaned through IWAP membership. It's so good to see strangers come along for their first lunch and after only a couple of hours leave with contacts established and new friendships on the way! Bryan and I are from Portland, OR, but also consider Washington, DC, home since family lives there. We have two children at universities in Wellington, New Zealand, and Portland. My background has been with nonprofit charitable organizations, public school districts, and most recently with a social services organization. When Bryan was offered to opportunity to move to Prague, we jumped at the chance, and have so enjoyed being able to travel throughout Europe. I am enjoying the chance to contribute to IWAP by helping to publish the monthly magazine. I have a background on Business Administration and a Masters in Hospitality and Tourism. But I met my real passion in life while working in the wedding and events industry in Miami. Photography became part of me while working on events and cruise ship weddings. Since then I have been learning about the business and getting involved with the designer part of the industry. I am from the UK and used to teach modern languages at a large secondary school on the English-Welsh borders. My husband originally came to Prague for 2 years in 1996 but we loved it so much that he decided to stay a little (!) longer. In 2001 I decided to give up my job and move to Prague. I already felt very much at home here as we had visited regularly and one of the first things I did was to join IWAP. I have been dealing with membership for several years now and really enjoy the way it allows me to get to know so many members of IWAP. It never ceases to amaze me that I can live in this beautiful city and mix with such a great group of women from so many different backgrounds and cultures. The international aspect of IWAP is what I will miss most when we eventually leave Prague. Having worked all my adult life in sales and marketing - many years of which in the international market, I followed my hubby from Cape Town to Prague and to a whole new world of expat city living. Looking after the advertising for IWA-Prague means I get to meet loads of lovely people - advertisers who become friends. How great is that? I was born in Germany but I have lived half of my life in the USA. My education is in languages since I am a translator and interpreter for English, German and Italian. I have translated and also taught these languages for many years before I entered the Real Estate business 9 years ago in Orange County, Southern California. We came to Prague from CA due to my husband's job last October. I was blessed to find IWAP pretty soon after and got involved with IWAP's 20th Anniversary right away. I am now looking forward to being the new Social Events Coordinator since it will get me even more involved with this beautiful city and the amazing ladies at IWAP. I am Romanian and I have lived in Prague since 2005. I am a qualified lawyer, but I do not practise any longer as I take care of my little boy and working part-time as a recruitment consultant. My husband is English and has lived in Prague for more than 10 years. When I joined IWAP in October 2010 at the newcomers' lunch, I did say I wanted to be involved in the charity activities of our organisation and started immediately to attend the meetings of the Charity Group and to volunteer for projects. And here I am, enthusiastic to coordinate the group with Deanne and hopeful to keep this wonderful tradition within IWAP. This is my first time of living abroad, and I was apprehensive about our move because I knew no-one in the Czech Republic, and had given up my job, and left behind my family and support network. I joined IWAP almost immediately after I arrived and I have found a fun bunch of ladies of all ages and nationalities and have already made good friends.
